On Sunday 1st July the ‘Humphrey’s Mariners’ took to the waters of Lake Windermere in Cumbria to compete in a 10 mile rowing marathon, to raise money through sponsorship for St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds. The six man team consisted of Martin Humphrey, Danny – one of our drivers, David – our warehouse manager and three other close friends.
Well…….we did it!! Completing the gruelling 10 mile course in 3 hours 19 minutes we managed to raise the fantastic sum of £4202.00.
Walker Humphrey MD, Martin Humphrey commented: ‘can I convey my sincere gratitude to all our staff, customers, and suppliers who made this possible through their generous sponsorship. This event was done in memory of my mother, Heather who passed away in St Gemma’s Hospice in February. I speak from first-hand experience when I say that St Gemma’s do a brilliant job looking after people who are in the last stages of their life and the staff are a tower of strength for the patient’s families.’
